The West End is a loosely defined area of Sheffield, consisting of part of the City Centre, in addition to some of the western suburbs. The term has been in use for at least 150 years.[1]
^William Howitt, Homes and Haunts of the Most Eminent British Poets, published 1845, states "We shall find the poet of religion and refinement residing at the Mount, on the Glossop road, the WEST END of Sheffield."
