According to the 2021 census, the population of the municipality was 1,091 with 486 living in the town proper.[2] In 2011, there were 1,370 inhabitants in the municipality, 94.8% of whom were Croats.[3]

Minority councils and representatives
Directly elected minority councils and representatives are tasked with consulting tasks for the local or regional authorities in which they are advocating for minority rights and interests, integration into public life and participation in the management of local affairs.[4] At the 2023 Croatian national minorities councils and representatives electionsSerbs of Croatia fulfilled legal requirements to elect 10 members minority council of the Municipality of Trnovitica but the elections were not organized due to the lack of candidates.[5]
