Sorry to see you "retire". I enjoyed working with you on a number of articles, even if we sometimes had differing opinions. I keep toying with the idea of leaving the project myself. I no longer edit Israel/Palestine related articles because of repeated personal threats and "warnings" I received on and off Wikipedia over trivial stuff like my adding photos taken in Israel to food articles. The admins I contacted about the threats ignored my concerns, so I felt it was time to work in other areas not "inhabited" by a clan of "battlefield warriors" who are intent on silencing people with differing opinions. I hope you can do the same -- find somewhere you can contribute that is free of unsavory situations. Wikipedia may be broken, and its volunteer admin structure seriously flawed, but there are still places here where we can have a positive impact and improve content. I am sorry to see you go, as I have only recently become aware of all your contributions, to the Texas Barbecue article, to other articles about the Houston-Galveston area, especially. I know how frustrating it is to see editors try to skirt wikipedia policies, and others self-righteously chastize you for trying to uphold them, and especially frustrating to have admins take their power trips out on you, which is how I see your recent block. I hope you are only taking a break from Wikipedia, and will return in time. Hey, I just wanted to let you know I replaced those stupid photos of the sunken car with one I took today, so you are vindicated. I also explained in the talk page that the car has been pulled out of the creek so the pictures aren't even an accurate depiction of the creek anymore, which should also preempt anyone trying to add them back in. I still can't believe User: William S. Saturn's arguments with you on this. He obviously had an axe to grind in putting two pictures of the same car there, and his justifications to you were ridiculous. Worse, though, was User:RJN chastizing you. He was the only one being uncivil with his comments to you, and I told him so on the Talk page. I wanted to drop a note re: N.O. I really tried to make sense of it as an encyclopedic article, and I couldn't find any way to justify the notion that those two words used together meant the same thing to some majority of people. The subject generally is fascinating as it touches on the evaluation of low-probability-high-consequence risk awareness; but the best I could do on the subject would be to embark on an adventure in original research - doing so would only end in a conflict I couldn't defend. I imagine that this single concept exists subliminally at every point in the arc of the nuclear revolution - but here again, my imagination is not exactly grounds for an Article. Best... I think Middle Ages are mainly used in Europe. How this constitues a major period baffles me. Since the rest of the world hardly is changed, unless I'm just that clueless to the rest of the world. I think Middle Ages should be a sub-period. But I don't have a history degree let along majored in it. One person even said that it marks the fall of Rome, which is correct, but still European and parts of Middle East and North Africa. In fact, the fall of the Mongal Empire affected more people than fall of Rome. Congratulations on your article Texas oil boom. It's a good srticle, and well documented, but I can't help but consider that it is misnamed. The scope is wider than the name suggests. To say that there was only one Texas oil boom is inaccurate. I know that it depends on how finely you want to slice it in time and space, but there were a number of separate booms. At a minimum, I would say that there was a Gulf Coast boom following Spindletop, a separate north and central Texas boom in the teens and early 1920s, and another boom in the 1930s following the discovery of East Texas. This leaves out the booms in west Texas. I believe that your article might be better named "History of the petroleum industry in Texas" or something similar. Please consider this. Thanks. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦»12:00, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
-->

Per MOS:IMAGELOC, "Most images should be on the right side of the page, which is the default placement." There is other detail in that section that you should read.
Per WP:IMAGESIZE, "Images adjacent to text should generally carry a caption and use the "thumb" (thumbnail) option" and "Except with very good reason, do not use px".
Please read those sections and modify your images accordingly. ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 03:21, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Grorp-20240921042700-Grorp-20240921032100
▶ I am Grorp ◀"}}-->

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
Interesting. It appears the policy on image placement has changed from what it used to be years ago. The policy was that you should try to alternate image placement from one side to the other so that the article does not look lopsided. A lot of FA articles still follow this (e.g. Ruffed Lemur, Great Auk). Frankly I like that better but whatever ... I'll do what it says.
Regarding image size, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Can you clarify which image you are taking about in the article?
Thanks.

To answer your question, all of the images in those two articles had been coded with "px" sizes. My edits changed that. When I checked the edits you made afterwards, there was at least one instance where you put back the "px". Double-checking, I see you reverted it right afterwards, and neither article uses hard-coded image sizes any more. Thank you for putting the images on the right. I had also noticed that some older articles have images right, then left, then right... ad infinitum (which gives me eyeball-whiplash). I wasn't aware that it was an older standard, nor that it had since changed. That's interesting to know, and definitely explains much. ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 04:27, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__
["c-Mcorazao-20240921053200-Grorp-20240921042700
▶ I am Grorp ◀"}}-->
For what it's worth, this alternating image position thing was not unique to Wikipedia. This has long been a standard practice in hard printed media (books magazines, etc.). But in dynamically formatted media on the web it does add some complications. I guess that is why the policy was changed.
