Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited ArenaBowl, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Albany Empire (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

There's a reason the KCPQ infobox is a bit different—it's because I want the other infoboxes to be like it (not the other way around!). I've been trying to pare back the excessive detail that has long been a part of TV station infoboxes after reading MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE. Also, I'm trying to add alt text to more logos for accessibility purposes—it's also a necessity for a good article (the page has been pending at GAN for about a month). Hopefully this explains what I've been doing. @Sammi Brie: Sorry, I understand that; I tried to rely on the documentation for Template:Infobox television station. I defaulted to using other station articles for precedent since the documentation is woefully sparse at the moment. I think it would be best to update the documentation while this article is undergoing GAN so that nobody else makes the same error as me; I remember a similar discussion on infobox templates occurring when I edited the KeyArena infobox. --SmartAn01 (talk) 21:33, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2021-09-29T21:33:00.000Z","author":"SmartAn01","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-SmartAn01-2021-09-29T21:33:00.000Z-Sammi_Brie-2021-09-29T20:47:00.000Z","replies":["c-Sammi_Brie-2021-09-29T21:44:00.000Z-SmartAn01-2021-09-29T21:33:00.000Z"]}}-->

@Sammi Brie: I'll try to update the documentation now with your suggestions. At some point, I'll sift through the documentation. On 14 March 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Longacres, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the site of Longacres has been home to a dairy farm, a horse racetrack, headquarters of a Boeing division, and a potential new facility for Seattle Sounders FC? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Longacres. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Longacres), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi SmartAn01,
Thank you for helping me understanding more information about Wikipedia's COI disclosure - I've added a disclosure to my user page now to ensure clarity about my roles. But I'm still unclear what I should do if I am a subject matter expert with primary source information but also has a non-profit relating to a Wikipedia page? From my current understanding, it seems that due to conflict of interest rules, I would not be able to improve a page I have extensive knowledge about given I work on the topic for said page, how best should we work to ensure that this page has all the appropriate, neutral information about the topic?
Thanks!

@Jackson Ridl You can still make edit requests and suggestions for reliable sources in the article's talk page; per WP:COIADVICE, you are also welcome to make unambiguous uncontroversial edits. I don't have significant experience on such matters myself, so I would defer to the article's talk page for further clarification. Hello, CascadeUrbanite, I was wondering if you would please colorize File:ESPN on ABC logo 2022.svg? I've tried doing it myself, but the ABC logo didn't turn out the way I would have liked it to. My sources for the proposed re-colorized logos are per NBA.com: ESPN logo & ABC logo. @Charlesaaronthompson With my recreation, I would prefer to keep it as close to the original logo as possible to avoid any permission issues; since Disney has exclusively displayed the logo in monochrome as of this post, I am concerned that creating a colored version of the recreation could potentially run afoul of the company's trademark rules even if the logo itself is in the public domain. If you want, you may raise this logo at WP:IMAGEHELP and seek clarification from other editors; I may reconsider your suggestion if they approve it, but I must decline at this time, especially as I devote time to my university studies. With that, I apologize, but thank you for understanding regardless. Since you're talking about Media Player (Windows 11), I would say yes under normal circumstances. However, Media Player (Windows) already redirects to the traditional Windows Media Player application, which makes such a name change complicated in terms of distinguishing between the two, especially considering that it is still included in Windows alongside the newer player. I will try to place a move request on the article so we can generate suggestions for appropriate names; I may also suggest a merge/split with the Groove Music article since the new player is a direct successor to it. The part about Groove Music/Media Player (2022) in the Windows Media Player article hopes that you can help update Groove Music is not exclusive to Windows 10. Windows 11 was also built in and was replaced by Media Player (2022) after 2022. And 2023 At that time, Media Player (2022) has also replaced Groove Music in Windows 10. Can you help reword this paragraph in the Windows Media Player article. Groove Music is not exclusive to Windows 10. Windows 11 had it too. "Windows 8 bundled Windows Media Player 12 along two other media player apps, namely Xbox Video and Xbox Music. The latter was renamed Groove Music in Windows 10, and then finally Media Player in Windows 11.[4] In January 2023, Microsoft began backporting the latter to Windows 10.[5] Windows RT does not run Windows Media Player , but comes with Xbox Video and Xbox Music.” 61.216.108.177 (talk) 02:45, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230411024500","author":"61.216.108.177","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-61.216.108.177-20230411024500-CascadeUrbanite-20230318054500","replies":[]}}-->

I am really happy to see someone working on this article and would love to join in with stuff you may not have access to, plus Maiacosis. Are either of you on WP:DISCORD? I'd love to connect there and join the effort. I have ample experience in writing TV stations: KCPQ is an FA along with three other pages plus about 120 TV station GAs and another 160 GA-quality pages awaiting consideration someday. @Sammi Brie @Maiacosis: I'm interested in fleshing out the article more to get it up to at least GA status, but I haven't prioritized it as of now since my various life commitments since graduation have meant a significant decrease in the amount of time I can and want to invest in Wikipedia without interfering with them. I can join the Discord to coordinate on what to prioritize, but I may not contribute as frequently as either of you. If anything, Maiacosis is welcome to join the next WP:Meetup/Seattle since I'll likely attend it; they may also gain some useful advice from Peaceray and/or SounderBruce if they also attend the meetup. The Pacific Northwest Bell and her Wikipedia article

How could the information sources cited not represent 1994 for the year during which Pacific Northwest Bell went officially defunct or dormant? Because I searched Google, Yahoo and Bing and found three quarters of a dozen information website places which indicated otherwise. Furtherly, I contacted them myself three years ago; some Lumen Technologies officials mentioned that the network was defunct or dormant from 1994 and afterwards. Wikipedia needs better quality sources in all articles cause otherwise we would not have a good encyclopedia. Angela Kate MaureenPears15:09, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241211150900","author":"Tropical Storm Angela","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241211150900-The_Pacific_Northwest_Bell_and_her_Wikipedia_article","replies":["c-CascadeUrbanite-20241212075500-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241211150900"],"displayName":"Angela Kate Maureen"}}-->
Unless the subject of the Lumen correspondence was publicized or otherwise discussed by independent reliable sources, other readers would not have any means to verify any statements based on it. As of now, the correspondence itself would constitute original research, which is strongly forbidden on Wikipedia; please see WP:BIT if you need further explanation. As for the linked pages, I did not see any explicit mention of that 1994 claim, nor do I think they would hold up as sources should the article ever be improved enough to undergo a good article nomination. In particular, the Bell System Memorial site would likely be considered a self-published source by other editors, and its usage of Wikipedia as a reference would effectively disqualify it as a reference on Wikipedia in violation of WP:CIRC. If anything, I would recommend looking through the books they listed or searching for books about Pacific Northwest Bell to find information since they largely seem to be published traditionally and/or written by established subject-matter experts. Other than archived newspaper articles from within PNW Bell's service area, books may be the only realistic option to obtain any extensive information about it since its direct presence waned and was mixed with US West as the Internet grew; even though it is a Seattle-based institution that hasn't existed for 30+ years, it would likely be unrecognizable and irrelevant to most people in its area now. CascadeUrbanite (talk) 07:55, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241212075500","author":"CascadeUrbanite","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-CascadeUrbanite-20241212075500-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241211150900","replies":["c-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241213175900-CascadeUrbanite-20241212075500"]}}-->
In other words: Although the subject may be true, not just any source can be used on Wikipedia. You're trying to say the Bell System Memorial site might have been unreliable in the terms of sources though it refers to Bell Companies then and now. And it's not enough for when it's true cause there's verification that is required on Wikipedia sites. Angela Kate MaureenPears17:59, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241213175900","author":"Tropical Storm Angela","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241213175900-CascadeUrbanite-20241212075500","replies":["c-CascadeUrbanite-20241214092200-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241213175900"],"displayName":"Angela Kate Maureen"}}-->
Essentially, yes. While a reference is not required to be available in online form, other editors should be able to locate the information cited from it if they have the means to access it; the accessibility of a source to editors is irrelevant to the quality of its work. Even though the Bell System Memorial site is apparently backed by a legal entity and is not openly editable, one could argue its content is more expected of a fansite rather than a historical society. The fact that barely any, if not no other reliable source has cited it in any of their Bell System-related articles published in the past decade says much about its lack of credibility as an authority on the subject among them, and it may never reach that status with the Bell System so far removed from public consciousness; I also noticed that some of the site's content leans into promotional territory, which may affect its reliability. As anyone can claim to be an expert on a subject, we cannot afford to loosely apply our standards when searching for information to add and cite, especially with the state of the Internet now. CascadeUrbanite (talk) 09:22, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241214092200","author":"CascadeUrbanite","type":"comment","level":4,"id":"c-CascadeUrbanite-20241214092200-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241213175900","replies":["c-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241215032100-CascadeUrbanite-20241214092200"]}}-->
Thank you for the clarifying. If that Bell System website may be questionable or dubious I will never use that as a cite here on Wikipedia again. I also wish you Merry Christmas two thousand twenty four and Happy New Year for two thousand twenty five. I'm devoted to editing Wikipedia for years to come. Angela Kate MaureenPears03:21, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241215032100","author":"Tropical Storm Angela","type":"comment","level":5,"id":"c-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241215032100-CascadeUrbanite-20241214092200","replies":["c-CascadeUrbanite-20241215094100-Tropical_Storm_Angela-20241215032100"],"displayName":"Angela Kate Maureen"}}-->
To be clear, I am not trying to disparage the people who provided content to the site; I understand their interest in sharing their experiences with the Bell System, either directly or indirectly. Unfortunately, incidents on Wikipedia like Essjay and Zhemao underline the lengths that some people can go to in creating hoaxes with their supposed credentials, highlighting the need to scrutinize sources no matter how detailed or well-intentioned they are on a given subject; as the saying goes, take unverified claims/accounts with a grain of salt. I would suggest attending the next Minnesota or Chicago meetup to correspond with other editors firsthand and gain experience on sourcing information and writing content for specific article topics. Regardless, thank you for your cooperation and understanding, and best of luck to you in your Wikipedia endeavors.
