Usually, in South Korean books, Web sites, etc., Seoul is listed first, then the metropolitan cities, then the provinces. I've flipped the 3 categories around here so that they conform with the general order. --Sewing 16:41, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- There has been some controversy over this, but I think that we should keep the Seoul-first format. -- Visviva 09:10, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2006-07-29T09:10:00.000Z","author":"Visviva","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Visviva-2006-07-29T09:10:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
The short forms currently used here are the standard ones, two syllables for each province. These (Chungbuk, Jeonnam, etc.) are the forms most commonly used, in both English and Korean; they also have the convenient feature of fitting more neatly into the box than would the full names. -- Visviva 13:41, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2007-05-29T13:41:00.000Z","author":"Visviva","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Visviva-2007-05-29T13:41:00.000Z-Short_forms","replies":[]}}-->
