In my opinion, most of this template would be better served by moving most of the content into a seperate page. In it's current form it's very large and unwieldy. Right now, all 7 sections lead to the same 5 pages, except for "Bön" which leads to space instead of Aether (classical element). As well, the layout of each section is interesting, but takes up more space than it really needs to. Any opinions? The Chinese Wuxing does not have a middle affinity, it is a circle circulating. The template is suggesting all cultures have a similar elemental view as the Greeks, and it is misleading and simply wrong in the China and possibly Japanese part where it depicts the middle affinity. I am changing the Chinese one. —Preceding signed comment added by MythSearchertalk 02:04, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-02-17T02:04:00.000Z","author":"Mythsearcher","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Mythsearcher-2010-02-17T02:04:00.000Z-Possible_Western_bias?","replies":[]}}-->

Why should only Chinese and Japanese characters be included in an English wikipedia template? My browser just displays them as empty squares. If I could see them, they would be just some special characters. They need to be there in articles, but in the template, they are unnecessary. Why not then Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan, Greek, Babylonian scripts for other elements? --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:32, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2011-04-25T16:32:00.000Z","author":"Redtigerxyz","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Redtigerxyz-2011-04-25T16:32:00.000Z-Why_Chinese\/Japanese_characters_included?","replies":["c-Machine_Elf_1735-2011-04-25T19:41:00.000Z-Redtigerxyz-2011-04-25T16:32:00.000Z"]}}-->

No one's saying other characters can't be included. Obviously, English names are included as well (not that a perfect translation exists in every case)... They're only one character wide—less obtrusive than most graphic icons and easy to skim past if you're not interested in "just some special characters". Some English speakers are interested, however...
In so far as the template comes in handy, its utility can only be diminished by removing them. They don't impair your ability to use the template... Still, I can sympathize that your browser isn't choosing a font that includes those characters... There's a help page here: Help:Multilingual support (East Asian)... I can't make any guarantees about Babylonian etc, but if you like, I might be able to help you select/install an East Asian font.
