@Lord Belbury: I agree we need balance, but if we remove the alternative names which, in some cases, are variants; readers won't be able to find the games they're looking for. For example, British readers know the game "War" as "Battle", but now won't be able to find it. And "Pig" should be added - maybe separately - as it is the name of the article for good reason. Can we find a compromise?
