On a budget of $22.6 million (before tax incentives),[1] filming began in New Orleans in March 2024,[4] with Questlove and Trisha Yearwood included among the cameo appearances.[5]Fran Drescher was announced to be reprising her role as Bobbi Flekman at the end of March, with John Michael Higgins and Chris Addison among the new additions to the cast.[6]Paul Shaffer, who played inept promo man Artie Fufkin in the original film, was also announced as being in the cast. Unlike Drescher, who was confirmed to be reprising Bobbi Flekman, it was not revealed if Shaffer would be reprising his earlier role.
Release
In July 2024, Reiner estimated the film being released in "late spring or early summer" of 2025.[7]
