The Cathedral of Mondoñedo is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the town of Mondoñedo, in the region of Galicia, Spain. It features a combination of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles, with most of the structure being built between 1219 and 1243. In the 18th century, the façade was remodeled, and the towers were added, giving the cathedral its present appearance.
History
Construction of the cathedral began in 1219, and it was consecrated in 1248. The façade features a Gothic rose window.[1]
The cathedral was declared a national monument in 1902.[2]
Notable people
Ramón González Barrón (1897–1987), served as choirmaster at Mondoñedo Cathedral from 1921 to 1926.[3]
