Smith's modeling career especially took off after he dyed his hair platinum blond at his agent's advice; the hair became his signature look for some time.[8][9]
By 2015, he had shot a dozen magazine covers[10] and fronted fashion campaigns for Philipp Plein and Tom Ford.[11] He and several other models appeared in Tom Ford's fashion video with Lady Gaga for SS16.[12]
In 2009, Smith and his three sisters formed a surf-rock band called The Atomics. Smith is the drummer and has stated that music is his real passion.[7][13] The band is also represented by Next.[14][15]
Personal life
He was raised in Utah and Smith's mother, Sheridan Smith, is a former model. His father, Dallon Smith, is a hobbyist musician who started a guitar-string company.[16] His three older sisters are Cheyenne Starlie Smith (b. 1993), Daisy Clementine Smith (b. 1996), and Pyper America Smith (b. 1997), who are all models and social media personalities. The parents gave their children relatively uncommon or unique names to offset having the most common surname in the United States.[17]
Smith has a daughter, Gravity Blue Smith, born in 2017 with his former partner Stormi Henley.[18]
On February 21, 2020, Smith married German model, Nara Pellman.[19] Smith and Pellman Smith have had three children together (Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Whimsy Lou).[20]
Recognition
In 2015, Teen Vogue named Smith the "Model of the Moment".[21] Although a relative newcomer, he was named to Models.com's "Top 50 Male Models" for 2015[22] and had the second highest number of social media followers of all male models in the industry.[23] Many in the fashion industry acknowledge that Smith's popularity (especially among teenage girls and boys) on social media is a deciding factor for brands and editors who have hired him, as it is an increasingly important network for promotion of trends.[24]
