Lara Ricote is a Mexican-born comedian based in the Netherlands.[1]

Early life

She grew up in Miami[2] before moving to the Netherlands to study politics at the University of Amsterdam.[3]

Career

Ricote began performing improv and stand-up comedy while living in Amsterdam.[3] She has performed in both English and Spanish.[2]

In 2021, Ricote won the Funny Women Stage Award.[4] At the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, she performed her debut solo show GRL/LATNX/DEF[1] and won the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer.[5]

In May 2022, Ricote featured in Rosie Jones's Disability Comedy Extravaganza,[6] a comedy special broadcast on Dave. In October the same year, she appeared on the panel shows Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable[7] and Question Team,[8] also both broadcast on Dave.

In February 2024, Ricote appeared on series U of BBC Two's QI as a guest panelist.[9]

Personal life

Ricote is partially deaf[3] and lives in the Netherlands.[2]
