Bothwell attended Oneonta High School in Oneonta, Alabama. During Bothwell's junior season he rushed for 3,112 yards rushing and 41 touchdowns on 256 carries, while also bringing in 22 passes for 314 yards and two touchdown receptions, while also returning a punt for a touchdown. On defense, Bothwell was credited with 66 tackles, including 19 for a loss, and had five sacks.[1] Coming out of high school, Bothwell was rated as a three-star recruit and committed to play college football for the South Alabama Jaguars.[2][3]
College career
South Alabama
In Bothwell's first collegiate game in week one of the 2024 season, he rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown while also hauling in a catch for 28 yards versus North Texas.[4] In week three, Bothwell averaged over 20 yards a carry rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Northwestern State.[5] In week four, Bothwell rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns, as he helped the Jaguars to a win over the Appalachian State Mountaineers.[6]
On December 8, 2024, Bothwell announced that he would enter the transfer portal.[7]
Mississippi State
On December 24, 2024, Bothwell announced that he would transfer to Mississippi State.[8]
Personal life
Bothwell's family's home burned down Christmas Eve 2023.[9][10]
