Deutsche Welle Bangla (Bengali: ডয়চে ভেলে বাংলা) is the Bengali language service of the Deutsche Welle.[2][3][4]
History
Deutsche Welle, Germany's international broadcasting station, was founded in 1953.[5] The purpose of establishing this media was to provide neutral, reliable and independent information from the center of Europe to consumers worldwide.[6] DW is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).[7]
Establishment of Bangla Division
Deutsche Welle's Bengali division was launched in 1975.[8] Deutsche Welle's Bengali programs were initially broadcast on short wave in Bangladesh and West Bengal, India. In 2010, the radio station started broadcasting programs on FM band in Bangladesh.[9] Khaled Muhiuddin was working as the head of this department.[10][11][12]
Popular show
Khaled Muhiuddin Jatne Chai was a popular talk show hosted by Khaled Muhiuddin, former head of Deutsche Welle Bangla.[13] The show officially launched on 28 February 2020.[14] It is streamed live every Friday from a YouTube channel named DW খালেদ মুহিউদ্দীন জানতে চায়.[15]
