The Alessandri family of Chile is of Italian origin, became politically influential during the early part of the 20th century, and has played (and still plays) a significant role in Chilean politics. The first Alessandri who came to Chile was Giuseppe Pietro Alessandri Tarzi, who arrived in the early 1800s as consul posterior, representative of the Kingdom of Sardinia.[1]
Gilberto Alessandri Palma (1858?), older brother of Arturo Alessandri Palma, prominent dentist in Punta Arenas and founder of various humanitarian organizations
