Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III (born 6 July 1966) is the Olowo of Owo and paramount Ruler of Owo Land in Ondo state, Nigeria.[1] He succeeded his father Oba Adekola Ogunoye II, the Olowo of Owo, who held the title from 1968 until his passing in 1993. He is the son of Olori Adenike Yeyesa Ogunoye. Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III was formally presented with the staff of office by the Governor of Ondo State Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu on 14 December 2019 marking the beginning of his reign.[2][3][4]

Early career life

Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye was born into a royal family, with his father ascending to the throne of Olowo of Owo in 1968. He lived with his father for twenty-five years until his father passed on in 1993.[5] He attended the Nigerian Law School in Abuja, and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar, qualifying as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.[6]He served as Ondo State Director of Finance before becoming the Olowo.[7]

The Crown Call

Shortly after his appointment as permanent secretary,[8] Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III left the civil service to become the 32nd Olowo of Owo ascending to the ancestral throne.[9] Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III stated
