American college football season
The 1948 Arizona Wildcats football team represented the University of Arizona in the Border Conference during the 1948 college football season . In their eighth and final season under head coach Mike Casteel , the Wildcats compiled a 6–5 record (3–2 against Border opponents), finished in a tie for third place in the conference, lost to Drake in the 1949 Salad Bowl , and were outscored by their opponents, 246 to 167. The team captains were Harry Varner and Art Converse.[ 1] [ 2]
Arizona was ranked at No. 114 in the final Litkenhous Difference by Score System ratings for 1948.[ 3]
The team played its home games in Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona .
