Die Mongole (Mongools: Монголчууд, , Mongolchuud, [ˈmɔŋ.ɢɔɮ.t͡ʃʊːt]) is 'n nasie en etniese groep inheems aan Mongolië en die Chinese outonome gewes van Binne-Mongolië. Hulle vorm die titulêre nasie van Mongolië en praat Mongools as moedertaal.

Wêreldwyd leef omtrent 10 miljoen Mongole, waarvan sowat 6 miljoen in China en sowat 3 miljoen in Mongolië. Daarbenewens leef Mongole veral in die Russiese republieke van Boerjatië en Kalmikië, waar hulle Mongoolse tale soos Boerjaties en Kalmikies praat.

In die Volksrepubliek China behoort die Mongole tot een van die 56 amptelik-erkende etniese groepe ("nasionaliteite"). Hulle leef veral in die Noord-Chinese outonome gewes van Binne-Mongolië aan die grens met Mongolië en 'n kleiner minderheid in die outonome gewes van Xinjiang.

Die Mongoolse stamme is in 1206 eeu deur Djengis Khan verenig en aansluitend het hy die Mongoolse Ryk gestig en begin uitbrei.[13] Die ryk het onder Ögedei Khan na Sentraal-Europa en Oos-Asië uitgebrei en onder Koeblai Khan sy grootste uitbreiding bereik. In 1294 is die ryk in vier verskillende khanate verdeel en nadat al die vier ryke ontbind is, het die meeste Mongole na Mongolië teruggekeer. Net in sommige dele van China en Rusland het belangrike groepe van Mongole soos die Boerjate en die Kalmikiërs agtergebly.
