Yellow Submarine (album)

Yellow Submarine adalah album studio kesepuluh dari The Beatles, dirilis pada 13 Januari 1969 di Amerika Serikat dan pada 17 Januari di Britania Raya. Album ini adalah soundtrack untuk film animasi dengan nama yang sama, yang ditayangkan perdana di London pada Juli 1968. Terdiri dari enam lagu, termasuk empat lagu baru yang dirilis sebelumnya "Yellow Submarine" dan "All You Need Is Love". Sisanya berisi rekaman ulang soundtrack orkestra film yang dibuat George Martin.

Album ini dianggap sebagai kewajiban kontraktual The Beatles, yang diminta untuk menyediakan empat lagu baru untuk film tersebut. Beberapa ditulis dan direkam khusus, sementara sisanya adalah lagu yang belum pernah dirilis. Mulai direkam ditahun 1966 dan rilis dua bulan setelah White Album dan tidak dianggap sebagai album yang memberi dampak signifikan. Sebuah EP yang hanya berisi lagu-lagu baru telah dipertimbangkan, tetapi tidak dirilis.

Yellow Submarine mencapai 5 besar di Inggris dan Amerika Serikat. Dan mendapat sambutan beragam dari kritikus musik, beberapa di antaranya menganggapnya tidak memenuhi standar tinggi yang umumnya dikaitkan dengan The Beatles.^[3]
