Sony Entertainment Network (disingkat SEN) adalah layanan pengiriman media digital yang dioperasikan oleh Sony. SEN menyediakan akses ke layanan, termasuk PlayStation Network untuk permainan video, Video Unlimited untuk film dan televisi, Music Unlimited untuk musik, dan PlayMemories untuk foto dan video.[1] Pada 28 Januari 2015, Sony Entertainment Network digantikan oleh PlayStation Network.

Sejarah

Sony Entertainment Network pertama kali diperkenalkan pada tanggal 31 Agustus 2011 oleh presiden Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Platform baru untuk pengguna Sony diumumkan pada pameran dagang IFA di Berlin. Qriocity adalah nama asli untuk jaringan tersebut hingga tahun 2011, di mana Sony memutuskan untuk membuat platform Sony Entertainment Network sebagai cara bagi masyarakat untuk mengakses hiburan digital. Dengan nama baru, juga muncul logo baru untuk layanan yang berbeda pada Sony Entertainment Network. Layanan Qriocity digunakan oleh Sony sebagai platform pengunduhan video dan musik; namanya diubah menjadi Video Unlimited dan Music Unlimited pada tahun 2011. Hal ini memungkinkan Sony untuk memperluas layanan Music Unlimited ke Norwegia, Swedia, Finlandia, Denmark, Belanda dan Belgia pada akhir tahun 2011.[2]

Selama tahun 2012, Sony Entertainment Network dirilis ke masyarakat dan tersedia pada berbagai perangkat Sony. Alih-alih menggunakan peramban yang dilayani web di pesawat Televisi Bravia mereka, Sony memutuskan untuk mengintegrasikan Musik dan Video Unlimited ke dalam menu beranda TV. Antarmuka sengaja dibuat untuk Sony Entertainment Network dan membuat pengguna lebih mudah mengakses layanan yang ditawarkan Sony Entertainment Network.[3]

Pada tanggal 28 Januari 2015, Sony Entertainment Network, bersama dengan layanan Music Unlimited dan Video Unlimited-nya, sepenuhnya diserap ke dalam PlayStation Network, menggantikan SEN sebagai merek layanan hiburan terkemuka Sony. Setelah itu, Music Unlimited dan Video Unlimited masing-masing diganti namanya menjadi PlayStation Music dan PlayStation Video.[4]

Pada tanggal 25 Januari 2016, Sony menggabungkan Computer Entertainment dan Network Entertainment International menjadi satu unit usaha, Sony Interactive Entertainment.[5]

Layanan

Video Unlimited

Video Unlimited memungkinkan pengguna untuk membeli atau menyewa video. Pembelian dan penyewaan bisa dilakukan secara online melalui Sony Entertainment Network Store, melalui PlayStation Store pada PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, dan PlayStation Vita, melalui toko Video Unlimited pada banyak pemutar cakram Blu-ray Sony dan TV Bravia, atau melalui aplikasi ponsel cerdas dan tablet Xperia.[6] Layanan ini menyediakan cara yang mudah dan mudah diakses bagi pelanggan untuk menonton dan menemukan film dan TV baru. Melalui berbagai pilihan yang dimiliki Video Unlimited, pengguna dapat memilih dari film baru, film klasik atau untuk mengikuti serial TV. Penggunaan log in memungkinkan pelanggan untuk dengan mudah memilih dan menonton video dari mana saja, pada perangkat yang kompatibel dengan Video Unlimited.[7] Video Unlimited kemudian digantikan oleh PlayStation Video.

Music Unlimited

Music Unlimited adalah layanan musik berbasis awan. Menurut Sony, katalog musiknya berisi 25 juta lagu dan tersedia di 19 negara.[8][9] Ada dua tingkat berlangganan: Access, yang memungkinkan untuk mendengarkan semua musik yang tersedia di Mac, PC, PlayStation 4 atau PlayStation 3; dan Premium, yang menambahkan ketersediaan untuk perangkat seluler dan pemutar Walkman serta pemutar Blu-ray dan TV Bravia. Seperti layanan musik biasa, Music Unlimited memungkinkan pengguna untuk membuat daftar putar, menemukan lagu baru dan lagu yang direkomendasikan kepada mereka melalui selera musik mereka sendiri. Fitur khusus yang membuat Music Unlimited menonjol adalah kemampuan untuk mendengarkan musik pada PlayStation 4 sambil bermain game. Layanan ini digantikan pada tahun 2015 oleh PlayStation Music dengan Spotify.

Sony Entertainment Network Store

Antarmuka melalui Sony Entertainment Network Store dikelompokkan ke dalam beberapa bagian di mana pengguna dapat melihat Top Rated Games (Permainan Teratas), Film Terbaru yang Dirilis, DLC, Coming Soon (Segera Hadir), Penawaran dan Penawaran, dan PlayStation Plus.
