Proses Fischer–Tropsch

Proses Fischer–Tropsch adalah kumpulan reaksi kimia yang mengubah campuran karbon monoksida dan hidrogen menjadi hidrokarbon cair. Reaksi ini terjadi dengan adanya katalis logam, biasanya pada suhu 150–300 °C (302–572 °F) dan tekanan satu hingga beberapa puluh atmosfer. Proses ini pertama kali dikembangkan oleh Franz Fischer dan Hans Tropsch di Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institut für Kohlenforschung di Mülheim an der Ruhr, Jerman, pada tahun 1925.[1]

Sebagai contoh utama kimia C1, proses Fischer-Tropsch merupakan reaksi penting baik dalam pencairan batu bara dan teknologi gas menjadi cairan untuk menghasilkan hidrokarbon cair.[2] Dalam penerapan biasa, karbon monoksida dan hidrogen, bahan baku untuk FT, dihasilkan dari batu bara, gas alam, atau biomassa dalam proses yang dikenal sebagai gasifikasi. Proses Fischer–Tropsch kemudian mengubah gas-gas ini menjadi minyak pelumas sintetis dan bahan bakar sintetis.[3]
