Pengukur jarak elektronik


Pengukur jarak elektronik (bahasa Inggris: Electronic distance measurement) merupakan alat ukur jarak elektronik, menggunakan gelombang elektromagnetik berupa sinar infra merah sebagai gelombang pembawa sinyal pengukuran dan dibantu dengan sebuah reflektor berupa prisma sebagai target yaitu alat pemantul sinar infra merah agar kembali ke EDM.[1] EDM berguna untuk mengukur jarak dari instrumen target. Sebuah kalkulator untuk mencari lokasi titik terlihat. Perekam data untuk mengurangi potensi kesalahan. Dengan bantuan trigonometri, sudut dan jarak dapat digunakan untuk menghitung posisi sebenarnya (x, y, dan z atau arah timur dan elevasi) titik yang disurvei secara absolut. Dalam hal pengawasan gunung api, EDM ini digunakan untuk melihat deformasi.

If the EM is microwave, then the reflector is a second instrument which captures the incoming energy and re-transits it back to the originating instrument.
