Pencipta Bintang Semesta

“Sidus” (“siderum”) dalam bahasa Latin tak sekadar “bintang”, tetapi juga meliputi matahari, bulan, planet-planet dan seluruh rasi bintang dan komet dan meteor.[1]

Pencipta Bintang Semesta atau Conditor alme siderum adalah sebuah kidung Latin abad ketujuh pada musim liturgi Kristen Advent.[2] Kidung tersebut dulunya diatribusikan kepada Santo Ambrosius, namun tiada bukti kontemporer untuk mendukung atribusi tersebut. Kidung tersebut biasanya dipakai dalam ibadah harian di Vespers[3] J.M. Neale membuat terjemahan Inggris terkenal dari kidung tersebut dengan judul Creator of the Stars of Night.
