Merry Christmas II You adalah album natal kedua, dan album studio ke-13 oleh Mariah Carey. Dirilis pada tanggal 2 November 2010. Perekaman dimulai pada bulan April 2010 dan terus dilanjutkan sampai Mariah Carey hamil. Album ini terdiri dari lagu-lagu orisinil dan lagu yang dinyanyikan kembali, trek balada dan tempo yang cepat.

Latar belakang

Dalam sebuah wawancara untuk Rap-Up pada bulan April 2010, Jermaine Dupri mengatakan bahwa dia dan Mariah Carey sudah mulai bekerja untuk lagu-lagu yang baru.[1] Pada tanggal 24 April, David LaChapelle mengatakan bahwa dia telah mengambil beberapa potret untuk sampul album dengan salju palsu dan rusa kayu, kemudian David memberikan konfirmasi bahwa proyek tersebut untuk sebuah album Natal.[2] Pada tanggal 5 Mei, Jermaine Dupri menegaskan bahwa dia dan Mariah Carey berada di tahap awal produksi untuk album yang baru, Bryan-Michael Cox dan Johntá Austin juga terlibat dalam proyek dan mereka berharap untuk merilis singel pada akhir tahun.[3] Pada tanggal 1 September 2010, Rap-Up secara eksklusif mengungkapkan judul album baru tersebut, Merry Christmas II You, dan akan dirilis pada tanggal 2 November.[4] Bagian II merupakan simbol bahwa album tersebut merupakan sekuel dari album Natal pertama Mariah Carey, Merry Christmas (1994).
