Tempat menginap para delegasi Konferensi Zimmerwald

Konferensi Zimmerwald adalah pertemuan internasional kaum sosialis revolusioner yang bertujuan menyatukan kembali internasionale kedua yang bubar setelah Perang Dunia I[1] Konferensi yang berlangsung di Zimmerwald, Swiss pada September 1915 dihadiri oleh 40 delegasi dari 11 negara (Rusia, Polandia, Prancis, Jerman, Bulgaria, Rumania, Italia, Swiss, Belanda, Swedia dan Norwegia).[1][2] Di antara delegasi yang hadir, terdapat beberapa orang yang menonjol dalam konferensi ini, yaitu Lenin, Leon Trotsky dan Karl Liebknecht.[2]

Pada pertemuan itu dirumuskan pendirian poiitik berupa sikap perlawanan terhadap perang yang imperialistis.[1] Inisiatif pertemuan tersebut dicetuskan oleh partai dari Italia.[1] Utusan Inggris tidak hadir karena dihalang-halangi pemerintahnya.[1] Sebuah kelompok kecil di belakang Lenin dan Radek melawan Trotsky, Ledebour (Jerman) dan Roland Holst (Belanda) yang berada dalam golongan moderat mayoritas.[1] Untuk mempertahankan persatuan, kelompok di belakang Lenin akhirnya ikut menandatangani manifesto yang disusun pihak mayoritas.[1] Manifesto tersebut berisi sikap menentang kekerasan dan aneksasi.[1] Pada tahun 1919 konferensi ini dilanjutkan di Kiental.[1]
