Karol Józef Lipiński (30 Oktober 1790 – 16 Desember 1861) adalah komposer dan biolaist musik Polandia yang aktif selama pemisahan Polandia. Universitas Musik Karol Lipiński di Wrocław, Polandia dinamai menurut namanya.[1]

Biografi

Lipiński lahir di Radzyń Podlaski. Ayahnya adalah Feliks Lipiński (1765–1847), dan dia memiliki adik lelaki bernama Feliks (1815–1865). Pada tahun 1810 ia menjadi biola pertama dan dua tahun kemudian konduktor orkestra opera di Lwów (sekarang Lviv, Ukraina). Pada tahun 1817 ia pergi ke Italia dengan harapan dapat mendengar Niccolò Paganini. Keduanya bertemu di Milan, bertemu setiap hari untuk bermain, dan bahkan melakukan dua konser bersama pada bulan April 1818, yang sangat menambah reputasi Lipiński. Paganini mendedikasikan Variasi Burlesque pada "La Carnaval de Venise", Op. 10 untuk biola tanpa iringan untuk Lipiński. Kemudian, pada tahun 1827, Lipiński mengembalikan kehormatan tersebut dengan mendedikasikan "Tiga Caprices untuk Biola" miliknya kepada Paganini.
