Institut de France (pengucapan bahasa Prancis: [ɛ̃stity də fʁɑ̃s], Institut Prancis) adalah perhimpunan terpelajar Prancis, membentuk lima "académies" yang ada di Prancis, termasuk L'Académie française.

Institut yang terletak di tengah kota Paris ini, mengelola sekitar 1.000 yayasan, serta museum dan château yang terbuka untuk umum. Institut ini juga telah memberikan hadiah dan subsidi, yang berjumlah total lebih dari € 27 juta per tahun pada 2017.^[1] Sebagian besar dari hadiah ini diberikan oleh Institut atas rekomendasi dari académies.

Sejarah

Gedung institut ini awalnya dibangun sebagai sekolah Collège des Quatre-Nations oleh Kardinal Jules Mazarin, untuk sarana pendidikan untuk para siswa dari provinsi baru yang bergabung dengan Prancis di bawah pemerintahan Louis XIV.

Institut de France diresmikan pada tanggal 25 Oktober 1795, oleh pemerintah Prancis.^[2] Pada 2017, Xavier Darcos menjabat sebagai kanselir institut ini.^[3]
