INS Gaj (2002)

INS Gaj adalah kapal tunda lepas pantai yang dibangun oleh Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam untuk Angkatan Laut India. Kapal ini beroperasi di bawah Komando Angkatan Laut Timur angkatan laut.[1][2][3]

Gaj ditenagai oleh mesin diesel kembar Wartsila yang memiliki tenaga 1421 hp (1.060 kW). Propulsi disediakan oleh dua baling-baling Volth Schneider yang memungkinkan putaran 360 derajat di tempat. Tarikan tonggak pengenal adalah 25 ton. Kapal dapat mencapai kecepatan lebih dari 12 knot dengan daya tahan sepuluh hari. Kapal ini dilengkapi dengan derek dek hidrolik enam ton dan peralatan pemadam kebakaran, dan juga dilengkapi dengan peralatan menyelam dan penyelamatan. Gaj memiliki kapasitas 22 pelaut.[4][2][3]

Kapal itu ditugaskan pada 10 Oktober 2002 di Komando Angkatan Laut Timur (ENC) oleh Panglima Tertinggi, Wakil Laksamana Raman Puri. Kapal tersebut dinamai kapal tunda kelas Gaj sebelumnya INS Gaj (dengan nomor panji A-51) yang dibangun oleh Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Kolkata yang ditugaskan pada bulan September 1973.
