6H
12. Awalan "heks" berasal dari fakta bahwa terdapat 6 atom karbon dalam molekulnya, sedangkan akhiran "-ena" menunjukkan adanya alkena—dua atom karbon dihubungkan melalui sebuah ikatan rangkap. Heksena memiliki beberapa isomer,[1] bergantung pada posisi dan geometri ikatan rangkap dalam rantainya. Salah satu isomer heksena yang paling umum digunakan dalam industri adalah 1-heksena, yang merupakan sebuah alfa-olefin. Heksena digunakan sebagai komonomer dalam produksi polietilena.
