Dorothy Parker ( lahir di West End, New Jersey, 22 Agustus 1893 – 7 Juni 1967) adalah seorang novelis, penyair, kritikus, dan penulis naskah Amerika.[1][2] Dorothy Parker mendapatkan O. Henry Award pada tahun 1926 untuk karyanya yang berjudul "Big Blonde"[1]

Kehidupan awal

Dorothy Parker merupakan anak dari pasangan J. Henry dan Elizabeth Rothschild. Ia melewati masa kecil yang tidak bahagia. Ibu dan ibu tirinya meninggal ketika ia masih muda. Ayahnya meninggal pada tahun 1913. Ia bersekolah di sekolah tata bahasa Katolik, kemudian melanjutkan ke Morristown, New Jersey dan pendidikan formalnya terhenti pada saat ia berumur 14 tahun.[2]

Dorothy Parker pertama kali menikah dengan Edwin Pond Parker II, seorang makelar saham di Wall Street, yang juga pecandu morfin dan alkohol. Mereka menikah pada 1971 dan bercerai pada 1928. Suami keduanya Alan Campbell, usianya 11 tahun lebih muda dari Dorothy Parker dan seorang penulis.[3]
