Demerol

Demerol merupakan obat bius analgesik zat yang sering disalahgunakan sehingga termasuk golongan narkoba. Demerol di kenal juga dengan nama pethidine atau meperidine. Di luar luar negara Indonesia Demerol juga dikenal sebagai isonipecaine, lidol, pethanol, piridosal, algil, alodan, centralgin, dispadol, dolantin dan nama lainnya. Bentuk dari senyawa ini biasanya cair atau tablet. Fungsi utama dari demerol adalah meredakan rasa nyeri pada bagian tubuh<ref>Rahayu, Weni (2009). Mengenal Jenis dan Bahaya Narkoba. Mediantara.

Pada reaksi yang ringan demerol menyebabkan efek samping)

  1. Pusing
  2. Sedasi
  3. Muntah
  4. Mual
  5. Berkeringat berlebih

Pada reaksi yang terus-menerus demerol menyebabkan gangguan utama depresi(tekanan) pernafasan, gangguan sirkulasi darah, terhentinya pernafasan, shock dan jantung berhenti mendadak, bahkan overdosis bahkan kematian. Adapun efek lainnya dapat mengakibatkan sebagai berikut:

  1. Pembekuan jaringan lokal
  2. Infeksi
  3. Plumonary
  4. Granulomas
  5. Peningkatan risiko endocarditis
  6. Valvural
