Wanita mengenakan baju terusan mode tinggi modern

Baju terusan adalah pakaian satu potong dengan lengan dan kaki dan biasanya tanpa penutup integral pada kaki, tangan, atau kepala. Baju terusan asli adalah pakaian satu peranti fungsional yang digunakan oleh penerjun payung .

Celana terusan penerjun payung asli adalah pakaian sederhana yang dirancang untuk melindungi tubuh dari suhu dingin yang terkait dengan ketinggian dan meminimalkan risiko menutupi pegangan dan pegangan penting. Namun kini, pakaian tersebut telah menemukan kegunaan lain.

Penerbang dan pengemudi

Penerbang dan astronot kadang-kadang mengenakan baju terusan atau pakaian penerbangan berinsulasi dan tahan api, karena jenis pakaian lain berpotensi melayang atau mengepak dalam gravitasi nol atau selama manuver G tinggi .

Pengemudi balap motor mengenakan pakaian terusan untuk perlindungan terhadap api (disebut pakaian pemadam kebakaran ) dan (dalam kasus pembalap sepeda motor ) pakaian kulit untuk abrasi. [1]

Tahanan

Terusan lengan pendek umum digunakan sebagai seragam penjara, khususnya di Amerika Serikat. Pakaian tersebut merupakan cara yang mudah untuk menentukan siapa narapidana dan siapa petugas pemasyarakatan. [2] Meskipun seragam oranye terang masih digunakan, beberapa institusi mengganti warna lain karena terusan oranye menjadi mode karena pengaruh serial Netflix Orange is the New Black . [3] Selain itu, seragam berkode warna cukup umum digunakan ketika warna berbeda menandakan tingkat tahanan narapidana [4] atau isu-isu seperti gender, potensi risiko keselamatan, riwayat disipliner, beratnya dakwaan saat ini dan hukuman di masa lalu. [5] Beberapa institusi bahkan kembali menggunakan seragam bergaris untuk mencegah narapidana yang melarikan diri dikira sebagai pekerja sanitasi, utilitas atau pekerja jalan raya. [6]
