Aimé Nicolas Morot (16 Juni 1850 – 12 Agustus 1913) adalah seorang pelukis dan pematung Prancis dengan gaya Seni Akademik. Aimé Nicolas Morot, putra François-Aimé Morot dan Catherine-Elisabeth Mansuy, lahir di Rue d'Amerval 4 di Nancy pada 16 Juni 1850,[1] dan menghabiskan masa mudanya di Rue de la Colline di Boudonville.[2] Pada usia 12 ia memulai studinya dalam menggambar, melukis dan mencetak gravure di l'Ecole Municipal de Dessin et de Peinture de Nancy di bawah Thiéry[3][4] dan direktur sekolah Charles Sellier.[1][5] He melanjutkan studinya di Nancy hingga akhir tahun 1860-an dan kemudian menghadiri lokakarya Alexandre Cabanel di École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts di Paris,[1][6] tetapi tidak dapat belajar dengan baik di lingkungan bengkel Cabanel yang bising dan pergi setelah menerima dua koreksi dari Cabanel.[3] Dalam dua tahun berikutnya ia melanjutkan studinya secara mandiri belajar di Jardin des Plantes, di mana ia mengembangkan keterampilannya dalam mengamati dan menggambarkan binatang.[3] Meskipun kurang hadir di cole, ia memenangkan Grand Prix de Rome pada tahun 1873 dengan penyerahan pertamanya,[1] the Babylonian Captivity (Super Flumina Babylonis),[7] yang saat ini menjadi koleksi cole des Beaux-Arts di Paris.
